Hello, my name is Katie and I am an Independent Celebrant, able to conduct funeral services, memorials, weddings, vow renewals and naming ceremonies. I mainly work across Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, but I have travelled further afield when asked.

I wanted to become a celebrant after the deaths of my parents. Me and my sister gained a huge amount of comfort from organising a fitting celebration of their lives. From there I decided I wanted to be involved in all the precious moments of people’s lives and help them create a beautiful bespoke and unique celebration and maybe offer other families the same comfort we received.

Prior to this, I’ve worked in the media for most of my career, having started out as a broadcast journalist  for Mansfield 103.2, where I eventually became Programme Manager and Breakfast Show Presenter, I still have a long-term association with the station and currently host their weekend brunch shows.

I’ve also worked as a children’s presenter for the BBC, co-hosting “The Big Toe Radio Show”, as well as spending time working for BFBS (British Forces Radio Service) working with the troops in Belize and Gibraltar. During my time working for the Lincs FM group, as well being responsible for the output of the station and working with the presenters and news team. I also helped organise some of the station's most high profile events, including their 18th Birthday Bash, which included performances from Olly Murs, The Saturdays and The Wanted, as well as organising an Up Close and Personal gig for Adele, to promote her “21” album.

I think working in live radio has prepared me for most unexpected situations and it has also taught me how to remain calm under pressure.

Since becoming a celebrant, I have conducted many funeral services, weddings and naming ceremonies. I even managed to combine my two careers and did a vow renewal live on the radio for a couple celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. Have a listen here.

I currently live in Mansfield with my 7 dogs and 3 cats.
